New Glarus Middle School Staff Ready For A New Year!

The New Glarus Middle School staff has been preparing for the upcoming school year.  This is an amazing group of professionals who are ready for the upcoming school year that started on Friday, September 1st.  An awesome year is in the cards!

RoboKnights Have A Fantastic Day At The Regional Competition!

Our Roboknights 8th grade team, the Waffle Turtles, had one FANTASTIC day today at the Regional FIRST Lego League competition in Madison! They tied for 4th in the robotics competition, then went on to earn the 2nd place overall Champion award with their core values, innovation project (Histo-Draw), and robot design presentation. They were also nominated for two other awards, the Robot Design Award and Core Values Award.  They have worked so very hard since August, and really put on a great show at the Regional Competition. Congratulations to Claire Mondloch, Eddie Bloomer, Charlotte Czerwonka, and Eloise Czerwonka!! The 7th grade team also competed at the Regional meet.  The 7th grade team includes:  (Cheezy Taters - Troy Bertling, Jayden and Brayden Goodness, Tucker Mathews, Majes Maricque and Keegan Olvera) The 6th grade team, called the Legitimate Business Penguins, includes: Annaliese Ramirez, Kali Stelter, Jayden Mueller, Ayrton Thornton, Francis Brooks and Jason Brisky.  Great jo

Knight Lesson For The Week of November 6th- Pay Attention To Speakers

This week on Friday, we will celebrate Veterans Day.  Since we will be celebrating Veterans Day and there will be various speakers at the assembly, our focus for this week will be paying attention to speakers.  This emphasis is part of our PBIS Behavior Matrix and also connects with our Social Behavior goal of having responsible verbal and physical interactions with peers and adults. Students can display respect for teachers and guest speakers by making sure things that might be distractions are put away.  Additionally, students should have their eyes on the speaker and should not be talking with other students.  Paying attention also means not distracting others with your feet or any movements that could cause a distraction.  Nodding and facial expressions can also signal to the speaker that you are paying attention to what is being said. Knight Lesson Of The Week- Be Responsible and Follow Timelines

     This week we are focusing on following timelines. This is the last week of the trimester and it is time to push and focus on getting any work handed in to teachers. Often we may find ourselves procrastinating and pushing our work off to the last minute. This has an effect on more than just ourselves. We need to remember that if we do not get our work handed in, this pushes our teachers and peers back as well. If we remember to stay on task when work is first given out, then it is not as overwhelming when it comes to the end of the trimester and time to get everything done.     We are looking forward to a great 2nd trimester at NGMS!
