2025-2026 Spelling Bee

The New Glarus School District proudly hosted its annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, January 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the New Glarus High School Auditorium. The event showcased the academic talent, preparation, and perseverance of students across the district.

A total of 25 students from grades 4–8 participated in this year’s competition. After several challenging rounds, Lev Bartlett, a 6th-grade student, was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion with the winning word “chartreuse.”  The 1st Runner-Up was Declan Umhoefer, a 7th-grade student, who also demonstrated impressive spelling skills throughout the competition.

The evening was marked by excellent sportsmanship and strong support among students, creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all participants. The district extends its appreciation to all 4th–8th-grade teachers, who played an important role in preparing students and helping select participants for the event.

Lev Bartlett and Declan Umhoefer will represent the New Glarus School District at the Regional Spelling Bee in Stoughton on February 11 at 6:00 p.m.
